Benigno (Javier Cámara) is an inoffensive male nurse with a sinister secret that belies his name. Marco (Darío Grandinetti) is a restless travel writer who can no longer ignore his problems at home. Both come to care for girlfriends in a coma. Almodóvar's most audacious script, which won him a second Academy Award, dares to disorientate the viewer, jumping backwards and forwards in time and slowly knitting together the fates of its four protagonists.
