FRENCH TIP # 1: Easy news!
One of the greatest problems faced by my students is to understand very rapid French, for instance when trying to listen to the radio to improve their language skills outside the classrooom - it can be a very ungratifying task indeed...
I have discovered some time ago that Radio France Internationale (or RFI for short) has been publishing on the net a daily 'journal en français facile'. It comes along with a useful transcript, and a series of exercises on a specific topic.
Some of the more difficult vocabulary is explained, and you will see that you will gain more confidence in no time at all!
They are also publishing it as a pod-cast for those of you in the know....
Altogether an excellent tool!
By the by, I went along (at long last!!) to the French 'Meetup' at the Au Bar on Shandwick Place last night, and met quite a few people I had been exchanging emails with over the last few months... It was nice to associate a face to a name!
I'd recommend the night to anyone really - very friendly and open-minded! A change of venue might be considered - I am myself quite partial to the previous venue of the Traverse Theatre Bar!
I will keep you posted regarding the next one (in February).
