FRIDAY 03 FEBRUARY
:FILM: HIDDEN :
Daniel Auteuil stars as Georges, a TV talk-show host who receives a mysterious videotape containing two hours of static footage of his house. More tapes follow, and Georges becomes convinced that a pivotal figure from his past is responsible. Haneke's visual choices – particularly his use of long, uninterrupted takes – effectively imbue Hidden with a distinct feeling of dread; the film, as a result, comes off as a suspenseful and gripping thriller. Incidentally, pay close attention right to the very end of the film – even in plain sight, some things can remain hidden.
Hidden recently won six European Film Awards, including Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor.

: theatre : Tartuffe :
Not seen Tartuffe yet? Time to go really!
I know I promised a while back to write a wee review about it, but sadly didn't get a chance due to lack of time!
But I cannot recommend it enough: let it be said that bundle-of-love, who sat down in the theatre with his book, resolute not to listen to that "rubbish" as he elegantly put it, became completely hypnotised by the performance from the actors, and laughed at the right bits. Oh, and he put his book away.
For French speakers: have to admit I struggled a bit with the accent to start with... But it was all fine after 20 minutes or so. An excellent adaptation, and the Rennie Mackintosh style of decor was superb.
@The Lyceum
: THURSDAY 09 FEBRUARY :

OK (again!): I am aware this is not a French film, and by what accounts I have read it does not seem terribly unmissable.... But it has Vincent Cassel, and I like him, so I thought I would include him there.....
