First film for 2009 French film class: Entre les Murs

The first film we have used to improve our understanding of rapidly spoken French is the recent film by Laurent Cantet, Entre les Murs. Quite a controversial, yet successful film, it aims at presenting under the guise of a "mock documentary" the events happening in a French class in a "difficult" suburbs.

What was very exciting about this film, in terms of our objectives, is that not only is it very recent, which makes the language very modern and contemporary, but it also presents quite natural dialogues, as a lot of the scenes were based on improvisations with the young actors.
