FRENCH ELEMENTARY (1) 2

  • Les bonnes résolutions.
  • Introduction to passé composé (with AVOIR).
  • How to form the past participle of regular verbs.
  • An important exception.
We started off by checking out last week’s vocab, and discussed briefly the way quantities are expressed in French. For ex:
  • Beaucoup de
  • Un peu de
  • Assez de
  • Un kilo de
  • Une bouteille de
We had a look at your ‘ bonnes résolutions’ for deux mille six, using the verb ‘aller’ and the infinitive form of the chosen verb (similar to “I am going to do” in English). We then had a closer look at reflexive verbs: you can find more information about these here, thanks to Tex’s online Grammar. Finally, we read the small text I had written about my holidays, which served both as a revision of food vocab and as a basic introduction to simple Passé Composé (ie the verbs that take AVOIR in the past tense – very similar to the English present perfect ‘I have done’). DEVOIRS Practise the passé composé thanks to jigsaw (to be sent shortly) Activity – La France, vous connaisez (last page of the Dossier): check out what you know & don’t know. VOCABULAIRE
